Branding gone to town.
I recently stumbled across a great set of logos for towns in Japan. After the debarcle over branding London which still doesn’t seem to have been resolved, these marques are lovely examples of destination branding, if on a smaller scale.
Each monogram combines aspects of the town with stylised Japanese lettering. Some are more obvious than others, but each one has a distinct iconic feel to it. A few of my favourites are shown above but the full list is here (via Jon Rowlandson).
