Social notworking.
Last week at work, a primitive new form of social networking was invented. Through the power of Post-it Notes and large windows, we were united with the office opposite us on St. John Street in Farringdon.
What started out as a simple “Hello” message on our part, quickly got a response back, before the conversation developed into two days of friendly banter. There were offers of tea, confessions of love, a knock-knock joke and even a marriage proposal all in the space of 48 hours.
At one point, there were five floors in three buildings, having cross-street conversations (albeit in as smaller sentences as possible!) and all of this soon went up online when our counterparts messaged “Flickr”.
From there, we all uploaded photos of the conversation to a group on the photo-sharing site, and the event soon gathered pace on Twitter, developing its own hashtag- #stickynoteromance. Social notworking at it’s best.
The whole event culminated on Friday when we arranged (again through Post-it Notes) to meet the unknown messengers at the pub below our offices for a beer, where everyone involved had been instructed to “wear a Post-it” so we’d know who was who.
The images above show a snapshot of the conversation, along with the final photo at the meet-up. Thanks to everyone that took part- Richard from my side of the road and our new friends Mike, Leisa, Stuart, Laura, Kerrie, Big Dave, Scott and Ivy from the other side! Update: thelondonpaper has since heard about the story through Twitter and after a quick phone interview, they published the story here: http://bit.ly/2jOS
